  • David J. Choma

Co-Owner, Head Coach, Lead Programmer, USAW Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach

David is a self-proclaimed nerd that strives every day to look like the superheroes he grew up admiring. His personal fitness journey started when he took to the weight room at 11 years old, partly as a way to cope with the loss of his father and a way to handle the tough journey through puberty. David fondly remembers those who greatly influenced him in his youth and supported him in his interest in exercise physiology as he went on to put himself through college. After the loss of his father at the age of 10, he lost his mother at age 20 and found himself in a position to have to work 4 jobs to get his degree. David was graduated Cum Laude from Kent State University with a B.S. in Exercise Physiology. All of his life experiences inspires him to help people grow and change and discover their real selves. He wakes up every day excited to empower people in and out of the gym.

In David’s words: “When people ask me, upon our first time meeting, what I do for a living, I proudly tell them, “I watch magic happen every day.” I get to witness, first-hand, the transformation one undergoes through our programming. Our members may have come in “out of shape,” unhappy with themselves or their lifestyle, emotionally battered, physically limited, frustrated, nervous, scared, or even confident, athletic, and capable already. I see as they grow and change and the real person that has always been there shows through. They become more courageous and stronger with every success, every rep, every heart-beating, exhausted breath, and they take that out into the “real world” with a renewed sense of self and burning light. I love it with every ounce of myself.”

  • Rick Campbell

    Co-Owner, Coach, CFO

Rick describes himself as a gym rat, having dedicated himself to many years of traditional body building workouts to put some mass onto his 6’+ frame that at one point weighed less than 140 pounds. David, co-owner of CrossFit Strongsville, introduced him to CrossFit and after a bit of resistance, Rick decided he needed a new fitness regimen that would improve his cardiovascular endurance. While he had put on some muscle mass, he had completely disregarded any form of conditioning and found himself often out of breath from climbing a flight of stairs. Within a few months, he lost a full notch in his belt loop and gained a new definition of fitness. He began chasing performance instead of something to keep him awake between sets of lat pull downs and calf raises. CrossFit has given him an athletic outlet, a constant pursuit of knowledge, and a sustainable, measurable fitness regimen.

In Rick’s words: “I enjoy being able to see a member join our gym who has extremely limited range of motion make progress each class and improve their mobility to do things they never thought possible.”

    Certifications:

    • CrossFit Level 1
    • Certified Public Accountant
    • Certified Information Systems Auditor
  • Jeremy Puszakowski

    Assistant Head Coach, Gym Manager

Jeremy has been chasing elite performance from a young age. He was a motocross racer from age 4-18, and sustained major injuries when he was 16. That was when he got serious about weightlifting. He went on to win multiple titles in bodybuilding, including NPC Collegiate Collegiate National Champion. Thereafter, Jeremy’s wife introduced him to CrossFit and he was instantly hooked. Today, he enjoys coaching, programming, being a wellness coach, and a professional “bada$$.”

In Jeremy’s words: “I love seeing big accomplishments among our members because it means that the other coaches and I are making a difference.”

Triah was a high school cross country and track athlete and went on to join the Marine Corps. During her military career, she became a water survival instructor and a Marine Corps Martial Arts Program Instructor. Today, she specializes in powerlifting, and is known to have a straight-forward coaching style — some might say, “abrasive.” She swears it comes from a good place. She’s really into carbs, beards, and barbells.

In Triah’s words: “I love seeing [the member athletes] let loose while becoming stronger, more kickass versions of themselves.”

  • Katie Drotleff

    Coach

Katie loves CrossFit for the confidence it’s given her in her athletic abilities. She was never an athlete and claims to be horrible at sports but CrossFit has given her a chance to develop her own natural abilities. Katie constantly works toward developing her athletic abilities and improving her fitness, and she’s happy to have the opportunity to now help others that are in the position that she was years ago. She’s also a mother of 2 and enjoys hitting workouts with her husband and beating him at them!

In Katie’s words: “l love helping members work towards and achieve their goals, such as helping someone get comfortable with handstand holds — one of my favorites! — or helping develop good form and technique to get those PR’s, or trying to give them the encouragement to finish a WOD. We all started somewhere and as long as people are showing up to class I don’t care what they have to do to scale the workout to finish it, just that they are showing up and giving it their all!”

    Certifications:

    • CrossFit Level 1
  • Alanna Ginley

    Coach

Alanna is an accomplished athlete. She played basketball throughout high school and is now a competitive weightlifter. She placed first in her weight class at her first meet in 2015. Before finding CrossFit and weightlifting, Alanna hit a low in her life, finding herself weighing almost 300 pounds. She one day took on the challenge to turn her life around and hasn’t looked back since. She’s made incredible progress through her time with CrossFit and is proud to be able to help others in their fitness journeys.

In Alanna’s words: [I am passionate about] “…happiness. I think too many people let life pass by without ever finding true happiness. Find what makes you happy – dream it, chase it, be it.”

Previously, he played junior pro hockey from 2008-2012, and CrossFit was the perfect competitive outlet after hockey. As a coach, he loves challenging his athletes to always bring their best effort, and strives to do the same as an athlete.

In Vinny’s words: “What I love most about coaching the awesome members at CrossFit Strongsville is their willingness to step outside of their comfort zones. Watching somebody PR in a lift or get their first pull-up makes the coaching experience very rewarding.”
