Memorial Day “Murph” at CrossFit Strongsville
On Memorial Day, Monday, May 29th, we’ll be honoring the a fallen hero whose legacy of sacrifice and strength has been commemorated for many years in the CrossFit community with one of the most challenging workouts we choose to endure. This free event is open to any adults over the age of 16 (members, non-members, CrossFitters, non-CrossFitters, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and family).
As always, we’ll scale appropriately for all levels of capability.
The Murph WOD is…
“In memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, 29, of Patchogue, N.Y., who was killed in Afghanistan June 28th, 2005.
This workout was one of Mike’s favorites and he’d named it “Body Armor”. From here on it will be referred to as “Murph” in honor of the focused warrior and great American who wanted nothing more in life than to serve this great country and the beautiful people who make it what it is.”
It includes a 1-Mile Run, 100 Pull-ups, 200 Push-Ups, 300 Air Squats, and another 1-Mile Run.
We’ll open at 8AM and have heats starting every half-hour or hour, as needed, from 8:30AM to 11AM. We’ll start firing up the grill around 10:30AM with free burgers and hotdogs. We welcome any participants to bring side dishes, snacks, and water! Adult beverages are prohibited at the gym, but the bar next door should be open!
In addition, our friends at CoreLife Eatery will be setting up a complimentary lemonade stand with unique, delicious, and healthy lemonade options.
We know that not everybody can make it on Monday, so feel free to visit our good friends at StrongTower CrossFit on Friday, May 26th. They have full details of their event here: http://strongtowercrossfit.com/murph2017/
